BJP Yet to Learn The Lesson for the Telugu States

Dr K. Laxman - Amit ShahTelangana BJP had registered dismal results in the recent Assembly Elections. The party just managed a Single MLA and meager 7% vote share in the recent elections. The party lost deposits in 103 seats of the total 118 seats they contested. The Party President Lakshman and the Party’s Floor Leader in the Assembly, Kishan Reddy also lost the election.

Lakshman ended up in a shameful third position in his Musheerabad constituency. From then, the party office in Nampally is wearing a deserted look. They are totally inactive. BJP High commands want the party to at least open its account in the upcoming Parliament Elections.

Amit Shah who extensively campaigned for the party in Assembly Elections is coming back once again to the State. He will be touring Nizamabad on 13th of this month. BJP has pinned high hopes on this seat expecting to polarize the Hindu Vote. So Amit Shah will kickstart Telangana Campaign here.

But given the recent results, it is highly doubtful if the party can open its account here. For the party to succeed in Telangana, it needs a vibrant face who can rejuvenate the cadre and as well as inspire confidence in the people. Numerous Tours of the Central Leaders and their speeches in Hindi will never do any good for the party in Telangana. The party faces a similar problem in AP as well and is solely banking on the Modi Wave.
