The long cherished dream of Bullet Trains in India is drawing closer. Bullet trains require completely new infrastructure. The ministry had decided that the first bullet train will be allotted to the already studied divisions of Ahmedabad and Mumbai. There are also Semi Bullet trains which are going to be introduced and two of them run between Chennai-Hyderabad and Nagpur-Secunderabad.
Railway Minster Sadananda Gowda also declared about the efforts to increase the speed of trains in select sectors to up to 200 km per hour and some other sectors to 160-200 km per hour. Modi’s government also announced the plans of developing an ambitious project to have a Diamond Quadrilateral network of high speed rail connecting major metros and growth centres across the length and the breadth of the country. It is known that this is the first Rail budget of Modi’s government and it is less on populism and more on long term goals.
