'Car Free Thursday' came and gone soon!

Car Free ThursdayThe Go Green initiative of IT companies in Hyderabad, Car Free Thursday got no takers now. The initiative launched four months ago in Hyderabad, did not have any significant impact on traffic congestion or pollution levels. Gradually, the participants, organizers and even the government had let go the concept.

The first few Thursdays are good with techies showing interest about doing their bit to bring down pollution levels. But the enthusiasm died as usually in many cases in the past and the cars are plying as usual in all the days.

Many opine that the participants would have been encouraged if the organizers had released some sort of data on how much impact the car-free days but that did not happen. Irony is that the data released by the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) showed, during October and November, the highest pollution levels of the month were recorded on Thursdays.
