The Polavaram Project Authority on Tuesday said that the reverse tendering process opted by the Andhra Pradesh government will delay the Polavaram project further and will also increase the Project Costs. PPA also opined that the current Contractor, Navayuga is doing a good job.
However, the officials who have attended on the behalf of the State Government informed that the Chief Minister is keen on going forward with the Retendering and they are doing it only after a report by the Technical Committee. The State Government opined that there were irregularities to the tune of Rs 3797 crore.
PPA closed the meeting saying that it would still oppose the move and also reiterated that the State Government will have to bear all the expenses that would arise due to the retendering and the Central Government is in no way concerned about it. This will mean an additional burden to the State Government.
If in the retendering process, the tenders are high, it would also trouble YSR Congress Government politically as well.
