Central government confirmed that the increase will not happen till 2026 as Article 170 says that the Assembly seats across all the states in the country will not be touched until 2026. Naidu reportedly clarified BJP high command that he can not accommodate their high ambitions in the state for 2019 elections unless the seats are increased.
We are told that Center is examining ways to increase the number of seats bypassing the technical issues. However, clarity on this will emerge only after legal consultations. Increasing the seats will help political parties to accommodate more number of aspirants. Particularly the ruling parties will have a huge demand for tickets in the next elections.
