Chandrababu & PK: Contrasting Thought Process

Chandrababu Naidu Pawan Kalyan

Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan decided to sail together in the Andhra Pradesh elections that will take place next year. The elections are just five months away.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana politics are often interlinked and there is no party that impressed the public of both states after the bifurcation. In fact, people of both states have interests that do not match. Hence parties find it difficult to satisfy people of both sides at the same time.

Telangana Assembly elections have come at this crucial time. It is interesting to note that alliance partners – TDP and Janasena have contrasting views about the election.

Janasena is going to ally with BJP taking 10-12 seats, as per the rumourmills.

On the other side, TDP had decided to withdraw from the election. Chandrababu Naidu has taken a decision to that extent.

It is impossible for TDP to put up a decent show in the election. Contesting and drawing a blank means it will be a bad record for TDP and is likely to impact the Andhra Pradesh elections too.

Janasena’s position is even worse than TDP in Telangana. But it is hoped that youth voters and supporters of TDP and BJP will vote for them.

Political experts believe that Janasena is taking a big risk. BJP itself is looking at less than ten seats. Contesting in alliance with the BJP will send a wrong signal to the voters in Andhra Pradesh too.

Also strengthening BJP means dividing the anti-government which means helping KCR. In such a case, KCR will only come back to help Jagan in 2024 which is again detrimental to Janasena’s interest.

This alliance may help BJP in some assembly segments but for Janasena, there is absolutely no use.
