Chandrababu-Supeme-CourtA bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi heard Chandrababu Naidu’s Special Leave Petition to quash the FIR in relation to the Skill Development Case in which he was arrested.

During the hearing, the bench questioned the applicability of Section 17A PC Act, when the offence was committed before the 2018 amendment. The bench also asked if 17A is applicable when IPC offenses are also involved.

Senior Advocate Harish Salve and Siddharth Luthra appearing for Chandrababu Naidu argued that 17A is applicable when the inquiry starts after the 2018 amendment even if the offences are prior to it. The Counsels representing the state, however, said that the investigation started before 2018

The Bench asked the state to produce all the documents produced before the High Court.

The matter was then adjourned to next Monday.

Meanwhile, it has been more than three weeks that Chandrababu Naidu has been on Judicial Remand in this case.

The Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh are citing this arrest as a clear case of ‘Regime Revenge’.
