Which is the more farmer-friendly Government in Andhra Pradesh? YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government makes tall claims about it but in reality, the commitment is not visible. The Government, after coming to power, has spent only 9,323 Crore on irrigation projects.
The numbers are shockingly low at a paltry 1,323 Crore in 2021-22. Chandrababu Naidu has spent 62,500 Crore on irrigation projects during his tenure. Even if Jagan spends the same three years amount in the next couple of years. It will not be half of what the Chandrababu Government spent.
Some of the projects that were 80% by the time the Government changed are still incomplete due to no allocations. There are more than two dozen of projects (small and big) for which the government did not spend a single penny. Jagan Government is allocating 11,000 Crore to 13,000 Crore to irrigation projects in budget every year.
That means the Government should have spent at least 30,000 Crore but it is not the case. Polavaram Project is also not progressing even at a decent pace because of these poor allocations. Interestingly, Jalagynam – completion of projects is also one of the nine ratnams in Jagan’s Navaratnalu.
