Pakistan has been in absolute chaos with the country’s finances hitting an alarming low. Now, there’s another chaotic situation in the country with the arrest of the former prime minister Imran Khan.
Imran Khan was arrested outside Islamabad High Court under corruption charges.
As per the latest reports, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief was taken into custody by the Rangers, a parliamentary federal law enforcement unit.
This happened while Imran came to attend the court hearing in a mutiny case and another one pertaining to attempted murder.
The enforcement agencies had been trying to nab Imran for a while now but have been failing. But today, he was taken into custody by the Rangers outside the Islamabad High Court.
He was swept away amidst huge security and the police have informed that a 144 section has been imposed in the capital city.
In this context, there are also many protests from commoners and PTI supporters, who say Imran was illegally arrested by the special forces.
The allegations are that Bahria Town, a private real estate company has allotted land worth 530 million Pakistan rupees to Al-Qadir trust that is owned by the PTI chief and his wife. The arrest happened upon the orders of Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau.
There are reports that Imran’s supporters could take to the roads which could lead to more chaos. This is a story in development.
