The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ticket for the Kadapa Assembly constituency has become a source of contention within the party. Several prominent leaders are vying for the ticket, including two women from influential families. Additionally, TDP incharge Ameer Babu is also eyeing the Kadapa ticket under the minority quota.
The contenders for the Kadapa Assembly ticket include:
R. Srinivas Reddy: A member of the TDP politburo, he is pushing for his wife Madhavi to receive the ticket.
Lakshmi Reddy: The former Vice-Chairman of Kadapa Zilla Parishad, he is advocating for his daughter-in-law Uma Devi to get the ticket.
Ameer Babu: TDP incharge Ameer Babu is trying to secure the Kadapa ticket for himself under the minority quota.
All three of these individuals are considered strong contenders for the Kadapa Assembly ticket. Chandrababu Naidu (CBN), the leader of the TDP, has held discussions with Lakshmi Reddy, including his son Manmohan Reddy, and separately with TDP incharge Ameer Babu regarding the Kadapa Assembly ticket.
Lakshmi Reddy has reportedly raised concerns about non-local candidates, possibly referring to Srinivas Reddy. He has insisted that he will not cooperate if the TDP assigns the ticket to anyone other than Uma Devi.
It remains uncertain whether Srinivas Reddy would cooperate if the ticket is allocated to Uma Devi. Additionally, the TDP is considering the possibility of an alliance with the Jana Sena Party in the upcoming elections. If such an alliance is formed, TDP may assign one ticket per district. However, the Jana Sena Party has shown interest in the Rajampet MLA segment, and CBN is also contemplating assigning the Kadapa ticket to Ameer Babu.
