Desis’ H1B Visa Greed Shocks Americans

H1B Visa GreedIn yet another twist in the tale, Biden administration has allegedly found evidence that quite a few small companies have colluded to ensure that their prospective employees will win the coveted H1-B visa given to skilled foreign workers, in this year’s lottery.

According to US Citizenship and Immigrant Services, the federal agency that issues H1-B visas, has noticed that a small number of companies were responsible for entering the same applicants into the lottery many times, to boost chances of winning a visa. Not stopping there, the findings were revealed in a notice to employers.

After realising the fraud, the Biden administration has now decided to update and upgrade its visa issuing process. Since the visa provides skilled workers to such companies from India and China, they have been meddling with the actual process by putting in as many as 10 applications for each person.

Earlier, the number of aspirants for H1-B visas was very less and couldn’t match the quota of 65,000 H1-B for employees and 20,000 for MS students. Now the demand has buffered to 5 to 7 lakh applications. Meanwhile, USCIS has decided to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

However, the number of applications for H1-B visa have increased manifold as per 2024’s statistics. This H1-B visa system has become the most abused and corrupted system in the last few years.
