Andhra Pradesh Employees who used to say they would get Local Status issues before shifting to Amaravati from Hyderabad are now not showing any interest in getting the local status in Andhra Pradesh. More than 70% of the employees have not applied for local status for themselves or their children.

About 6000 employees have shifted from Hyderabad and are working in Amaravati as part of the shifting of the administration post bifurcation. Only 2186 of those employees have applied for the local status. 1800 employees were given the local status and remaining are under process.
Almost all the employees who are working in Amaravati have left their families in Hyderabad and visit them on weekends. They are keen on continuing their local status in Telangana so that their children get the admission in Hyderabad colleges and work for government jobs there.
That indicates that employees have shown Local Status back then as an issue only to avoid or delay the shifting to Amaravati and they have no interest in acquiring the Local Status of Andhra Pradesh. AP Government opines that not more than 50% employees at max will apply for the Local Status before the deadline ends.
