Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Admi Party received a severe setback in the Delhi election results today. Delhi is the only state where AAP is in Power and losing it means doubts on the party’s future.
Kejriwal himself lost the New Delhi Seat. The other main leaders of the party – Manish Sisodia and Satyender Jain also lost. Only the makeshift CM (after Kejriwal’s resignation), Atishi won. She was trailing in all the rounds but marked a comeback in the last round to win.

Kejriwal was arrested in the Delhi Liquor Scam and was in jail for more than five months. He was released on bail in September last year and fought the elections on bail.
BJP had arm-twisted Kejriwal’s Government using the Lieutenant Governor. Since Delhi is a Union Territory and the National Capital Region, the LG is equally or more powerful than the elected Government.

But more than that, the Aam Admi Party has to blame itself for this defeat.
The Party won two terms in a row in the NCR Region with the anti-corruption plank. Kejriwal was a disciple of Anna Hazare who shook the then UPA Government on its scams. Kejriwal differed from Hazare and formed his own party to foray into politics.
