Gachibowli which is a upmarket residential and commercial area has seen a lot of development in the last few years. With development come a variety of issues and one issue that has shocked those living in Gachibowli and Hyderabad city alike is the seizure of 41 gm of brown heroine there.
The task force seized the brown heroine from peddlers belonging to West Bengal in Nanakramguda. Two cell phones were also seized in the operation. The brown heroine is said to have been smuggled from Bangladesh.

The heroine is being supplied to students and software employees in the IT corridor according to the police. A case has been filed and the police are looking into details.
In different raids conducted in the past in Gachibowli, coccaine and other drugs were seized in a star hotel in February 2024. In September 2024, 40 gm of dry ganja and liquor were seized in a Gachibowli apartment leading to the arrest of 18 people.

In December 2024, 1.12 kg cannabis was seized near GHMC Park, in Telecom Nagar, Gachibowli. Transport vehicle drivers were caught supplying cannabis to IT employees.
The presence of people from other cities, dispensable incomes, staying away from parents, work pressure are some of the reasons for IT professionals taking to drugs and Gachibowli with its upmarket lifestyle has turned into a hub for those doing drugs.
