State Election Commissioner Bhanwarlal is alleged to have favored YSR Congress in 2014 elections. TDP officially lodged a complaint on him at that time. Similar allegations have emerged in the recent Nandhyal by-elections as well.

Bhanwarlal did not act on Jagan‘s hang the Chief Minister comments and TDP had to bring the orders from Central Election Commission to ensure that Bhanwarlal filed a case on Jagan. And now, Bhanwarlal is retiring this month-end.
Bhanwarlal is the Election Commissioner of Telangana and is the incharge Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation. Telangana government had started scouting for his replacement. Two Senior Officials and a female officer are said to be the front-runners.
It has to be seen if Andhra Pradesh will get a new full-time Election Commissioner or the central election commissioner will continue an incharge Election Commissioner. Andhra Pradesh government has got no indication about that in the direction.
