This is the explanation given by IPS officer Vishal Gunni, who was suspended in the illegal arrest case involving Mumbai actress Kadambari Jethwani. Gunni, who had been eager to arrest her in connection with the case, briefed his superiors on the details.
The suspended IPS officer submitted a three-page written statement during the investigation. Just a few days before this kidnapping incident, Vishal Gunni had been appointed as the DGP for the Vizag Range. It appears that the then Intelligence Chief, PSR Sitarama Anjaneyulu, threatened Gunni, stating that he would only retain his position if he completed the task of orchestrating the kidnapping.
The arrest of Jethwani was planned at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Tadepalli. The plan was devised by Intelligence Chief PSR Anjaneyulu, while then Vijayawada CP Kanti Rana and DCP Vishal Gunni carried it out.
After the government changed and the TDP alliance came into power, this matter came to light through Jethwani’s complaint. The booking of flight tickets and the explanation provided by Gunni during the inquiry left the IPS officers entangled in the case.
It is speculated that Vishal Gunni may turn approver in this case to safeguard his position. If he does, there is a possibility that the names of other political leaders involved in the incident could be revealed soon.
