Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu performed puja and completed the erection of the first part of the first radial gate of Polavaram Irrigation Project, at pillar number 40. Each gate consists of eight parts. After attaching eight parts, the gate erection process will be completed.

There are a total of 48 such radial gates. To operate these Gates, they are installing two hydraulic cylinders for each radial gate. The hydraulic cylinders have the capacity of 250 MT, each. It will take at least 60 days to complete erection of each gate. This is a crucial exercise in the Project.
By erecting the gates simultaneously, the Government plans to complete the erection of all gates by March 2019. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu termed it one of the biggest achievements of his life. Naidu once again reiterated to give water through Gravity by May 2019. According to the State Government, Polavaram Works is 63% complete.
