YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party secured only 11 assembly and four parliament seats in the recently held general elections in Andhra Pradesh.
After this crushing defeat, the party started losing steam in the state’s political affairs. Many of its leaders started shifting to the NDA team of TDP, JSP or BJP.
In the latest development, YCP faced a huge setback in Chittoor district’s Kuppam. The municipal chairman of Kuppam, along with 10 municipal councillors, is set to join Telugu Desam Party today.
Kuppam’s municipal chairman Sudheer, along with the municipal councillors, will join TDP in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in Amaravati. They went to Amaravati last night itself.
Kuppam has always been a fortress of Chandrababu Naidu and TDP. Now, after it reclaimed power in the state, it also regained power in the municipal council of the Kuppam town.
Meanwhile, many other local public representatives across the state are expected to join the Telugu Desam Party in the coming days, to ensure development and welfare for their respective regions.
