Liquor shops in Hyderabad will stay closed for four days as the Excise Department issued orders ahead of the Jubilee Hills by-election. The dry period will begin at 6 pm on November 9 and end at 6 pm on November 11, 2025.
The by-election in Jubilee Hills has turned into an expensive affair. Political analysts say all major parties are spending heavily to secure the seat. They estimate that around Rs 300 crore will be used from nominations to voting day.
Reports suggest parties are offering Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 per person to influence voters. To prevent the distribution of free liquor, authorities have ordered all liquor outlets to remain shut during this period.
The closure includes all bars, wine shops, toddy shops, and restaurants serving alcohol within the Jubilee Hills constituency. Officials may extend the ban to counting and repolling days if required.
