The Hyderabad police have intensified their efforts to combat drug and alcohol consumption in the city. Recently, numerous individuals have been arrested in multiple raids for drug-related offences.
On weekends, people are getting on the roads while drunk and are causing deadly accidents. As a result, the police have decided to take stringent action against them.
Last Saturday, a total of 298 members were caught in drunk driving tests. Of them, 70 members were arrested with a jail sentence of 2-8 days.
As per Motor Vehicles Act Section 185, there will be either a Rs. 10000 penalty or a six-month jail term for drunk driving offences.
In the last 15 days, Hyderabad Traffic Police caught a total of 2483 individuals in drunk driving tests. This shows how many people are getting on the roads while intoxicated.
In the last 15 days, 1543 charge sheets were filed in different courts on drunk driving cases, 158 individuals were arrested and licenses of 12 members were cancelled for 3-6 months.
Most of the people who were caught in drunk driving offences are two-wheeler riders. Out of 2483 individuals arrested in the last two weeks, 2034 were riding two-wheelers.
