HYDRAA has been in the news over the last few days by demolishing the illegal structures that were built by encroaching lakes in and around Hyderabad.
Apart from appreciating HYDRAA’s efforts, people also requested the Telangana government to take action against the officials who gave permission to these illegal structures.
Recently, HYDRAA filed a complaint to the Cyberabad police against a few officials who permitted to build structures around Erra Kunta Lake in Chandanagar and Pragathinagar.
Following this complaint, criminal cases have been filed against six government officials for allegedly providing assistance for illegal encroachments.
The cases are filed against HMDA City Planner Raj Kumar, HMDA Assistant Planning Officer Sudhir Kumar, Chandanagar Municipal Deputy Commissioner Sudanshu, Nizampet Municipal Commissioner Rama Krishna Rao, Bachupally Mandal Revenue Officer Phool Singh, and Medchal Malkajgiri District’s Land Record Assistant Director Srinivasulu.
All of them had allegedly given permission to construct structures within the buffer zone of the Erra Kunta Lake. They are accused of allowing construction on the 0.29 acres of encroached land near the lake.
Earlier this month, HYDRAA demolished three buildings which fall under the buffer zone of this lake. On the other side, HYDRAA is continuing to demolish other illegal structures in the city that were built by encroaching lakes.
