The arrest and detention of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Chandrababu are seen as a political move by a leading magazine focused on the legal system, “India Legal”. It is considered proof of the political maneuvering within the country and the way the police are being used for political purposes. The case against Chandrababu should be treated as a national issue and decided by the Supreme Court.
Chandrababu’s detention takes center stage in the cover article of the 16th issue of this month’s India Legal magazine. The article, titled ‘Chandrababu: Another Scapegoat,’ highlights that his arrest is not a new development in the country, as many prominent leaders have faced similar cases in the past.
The role of the CID in Chandrababu’s case is brought into question, with the article suggesting that the police have become tools in the hands of political leaders. It points out that the courts have often made mistakes when the police have acted excessively.
The article notably references Chandrababu’s post-arrest tweet in which he claimed to have selflessly served the Telugu people for 45 years and was willing to risk his life for their sake. After his arrest, the CID failed to produce evidence, which is seen as unfortunate.
The article also quotes an interview given by AAP MP Sanjay Singh, who stated that similar situations occurred in the cases of both Chandrababu and Manish Sisodia. The magazine’s opinion is that neither Manish nor Chandrababu were involved in any corruption and are political scapegoats.
