Will Jagan Automatically Lose His Seat?

Jagan Assembly disqualification warning

Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh, Raghurama Raju, has warned former Chief Minister and YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that he could face disqualification if he continues to skip Assembly sessions.

Speaking in Visakhapatnam, Raghurama Raju stated that if Jagan fails to attend the Assembly for 60 consecutive days, he will be automatically disqualified as per the Constitution. “There are 25 days left. If Jagan doesn’t attend, we cannot help it. He will be disqualified,” Raju said.

So far, Jagan has attended the Assembly only on two occasions during his swearing-in ceremony and when the Governor addressed the joint session. However, both days don’t count as official business days. Since then, he has neither attended any session nor signed the attendance register.

Raghurama Raju pointed out that during Jagan’s tenure as Chief Minister, the Assembly was in session for 67 days, while former CM Chandrababu Naidu skipped 37 days of sessions held over two years a gap that did not trigger disqualification.

Reiterating the constitutional mandate, the Deputy Speaker said that continued absence without valid reason will lead to automatic disqualification of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as an MLA.
