Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the other day, expressed his concern about the increasing Pollution in the State and instructed the officials to take remedial action. Jagan also stated that the Government is planning to impose Green Tax on Industries.
“Industries are failing to control Pollution and so the Government will have to step in. We will impose Green Tax on the industries and the State Government will take the responsibility of reducing the Effluents,” the Chief Minister has informed. This announcement of the Chief Minister invoked mixed reactions.
Some say the Government will do a better job in controlling the Pollution while some others say the Government will collect the Cess or Tax and will divert the money to other schemes ignoring the Important Task at hand. Industry Sources are worried about this new Tax in the wake of Economic Slowdown.
Investors in Andhra Pradesh are already worried with the new government policies like 75% jobs to the locals and not honouring the agreements signed by the past Governments. This new Tax will only add to the ambiguity of the Investors.
