Suryakumar Yadav has given a big update on his Mumbai Indians future ahead of IPL 2027. So, is the talk about him leaving the franchise finally over?
Suryakumar has been with Mumbai Indians since 2018 and has played an important role for the team over the years.
However, recent reports about his association with sports management company RISE Worldwide started questions about whether his MI journey could also come to an end.
Now, Suryakumar himself has spoken about his future with Mumbai Indians.
When I put my step in Wankhede again, it will be my 10th year with Mumbai Indians it’s a beautiful journey. I am always excited. It’s a festival. I am double excited to play for the franchise, and if you check my blood, it might be blue,” he said on Humans of Bombay.
His comments are a strong sign that he still sees himself with Mumbai Indians for the upcoming season. He also spoke about how much the franchise has helped him during his career.
Suryakumar called Mumbai Indians an institution and said the team works on players’ development throughout the year.
And his record for MI shows how important he has been for the franchise. He has scored 4,020 runs in 127 T20 matches for Mumbai Indians, including two centuries and 30 fifties.
In the IPL overall, Suryakumar has scored 4,581 runs in 179 matches at a strike rate of 148.58. He has two centuries and 31 fifties.
He has also won the IPL three times in his career. He was part of Kolkata Knight Riders title winning team in 2014 before winning two more titles with Mumbai Indians in 2019 and 2020.
There is still no official announcement about Mumbai Indians IPL 2027 squad. But after Suryakumar’s latest comments, one thing is clear he is still looking forward to playing for MI.
