Former Minister and YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh was produced before the Court on Monday in connection with the spurious liquor case. Ramesh and his brother Ramu were sent to remand till November 13 and shifted from Vijayawada jail to Nellore jail.
Officials arrested Jogi Ramesh in Ibrahimpatnam, NTR district. SIT team questioned him for 12 hours at Excise Department’s East office. His brother Ramu was also interrogated separately about their alleged links with accused Janardhan Rao.
After undergoing medical tests, both brothers were produced in Court. The hearing continued past midnight, and they were remanded till early morning before being moved first to Vijayawada jail and later to Nellore jail.
Before his arrest, Jogi Ramesh tried various tactics to avoid custody. He even visited the Kanakadurga temple, burning camphor on his hand and taking an oath declaring his innocence before God.
Ironically, Jogi Ramesh had initially leaked information about the spurious liquor network. However, his alleged involvement later came to light, leading to his arrest and remand in the case.
