Kamal Haasan to Rajya Sabha Soon

MNM, Kamal Haasan’s party has officially announced that the Ulaganayagan star will be going to Rajya Sabha. Due to the 2024 tie-up for Lok Sabha polls with the DMK, Kamal Haasan is being sent to Rajya Sabha.

The news has been confirmed by both MNM and DMK. Elections will be held for 8 Rajya Sabha seats on June 19. While 6 seats are in Tamil Nadu, 2 seats are in Assam.

Six members from Tamil Nadu will complete their term on July 25. DMK has 234 seats in the Assembly. Hence, 4 RS seats will go to DMK.

It is known that MNM is part of opposition’s INDIA bloc. It had extended its support to DMK and Congress during general elections held last year. Accordingly, MNM campaigned for 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu and one seat in Pudicherry.

The DMK has decided to give representation to MNM in the Rajya Sabha. Kamal Haasan had established MNM in 2018 for promoting local self governance in villages, against corruption and dynasty politics.




On the other hand, AIADMK will get one RS seat given their strength in assembly. If it wants a second seat, it has to get the support of the BJP. AIADMK and BJP are allies in TN. So, BJP might support AIADMK.
