Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao proudly announced in in the Assembly on March 27 that the Muslim quota bill will be passed within a week. But then, we are said that the Chief Minister is in two minds on this quota after BJP’s resistance.

BJP clarified that it will oppose religious reservations and Telangana government is very well aware that it is not possible to include Muslim quota in the IX Schedule of the Constitution without the support of the BJP-led NDA government at the Center.
The government wants the Centre to include Muslim quota in the IX Schedule, as was done in the Tamil Nadu reservation Bill, to give legal protection for reservations above the Supreme Court prescribed limit of 50 percent overall reservation. KCR will have to convince the BJP somehow or pass the bill and then blame the center for not pushing it.
