7-Years Jail For Rs 1 Lakh Bribe

Kurnool SI jailed for Rs 1 lakh bribe

The ACB Special Court in Kurnool delivered a strong judgement in a corruption case. SI B Peddayya was sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 2,50,000 for accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from N Mangaraju.

The case drew attention because the bribe was taken to dismiss a dowry harassment case filed under the Dowry Prevention Act against Mangaraju, his parents and sisters in 2015. Peddayya, posted at the Women’s Police Station in Kurnool, did not pursue the complaint after receiving the bribe.

The bribe was collected through a constable, and Peddayya was caught red-handed by ACB officials. The Court ruled that Rs 2 lakh from the fine will be given to Mangaraju as compensation.

The ACB Court also directed that corruption in government offices must be reported immediately on the ACB toll-free number 1064, mobile number 94404 40057 or email complaints-acb@ap.gov.in
.

This judgement serves as an example to officers who misuse their position for illegal gains. It aligns with Chandrababu’s stated vision of putting an end to institutional corruption.
