Winning an MP seat offers numerous benefits provided by the government:
– MPs receive a monthly salary of Rs. 1 lakh, including allowances.
– After their term, they get a pension of Rs. 50,000.
– They have access to various funds to support their work.
Travel perks:
– MPs and their spouses can travel by air for free up to 34 times a year.
– They can travel in first-class AC coaches by train for free.
– They get reimbursed at Rs. 16 per km for road travel.
Other allowances:
– Rs. 45,000 per month is given for maintaining constituency offices.
– Attending Parliament meetings earns them an additional Rs. 2,000 per day.
– Every three months, they receive Rs. 75,000 for furniture, electronics, and other necessities.
Health and accommodation:
– Free health services include pathology labs, ECGs, dental, eye, and skin care.
– Accommodation is provided in Delhi, with first-time winners getting state government hostels and senior MPs getting individual bungalows.
– They can use up to 50,000 units of free electricity.
Communication facilities:
– MPs can use three telephones and make 50,000 free calls annually.
– An additional 1.50 lakh calls can be made through the smartphone using the 3G package.
