Dowry harassment is a heinous and punishable crime, and so is orchestrating a scam to file fake dowry harassment evidence. A Delhi lady got to learn it the hard way.
Going into the story, Mridul Bajaj and Sonia Batra have been living separately after filing for divorce in May, 2021. Reportedly, Sonia, who is staying at her maternal home took away the jewellery given to her by her in-laws during the marriage.
On top of that, Sonia allegedly even took the jewellery belonging to her mother-in-law.
Then came the interesting part. Sonia, along with her lawyer brother Jai Batra hacked the social media accounts of her husband, Mridul. She then started sending messages demanding dowry from her husband’s account to herself. This is a scam to strangle Mridul with dowry case.
Mridul then got to know about the same when he accessed his social media accounts. He then immediately filed a complaint at the cyber court, post which it was identified that Sonia was indeed the one who was sending the fake messages in the name of dowry.
Now, a police case has been filed against Sonia and Jai Batra over the fake dowry allegations.
