Mopidevi alleged that he went to jail because of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He mentioned that there is a huge difference between Jagan and his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy. He emphasized that he is not answerable to anyone regarding his resignation.
He said, “I have worked under various governments in various positions. Over the last year, I have been troubled by the circumstances in my own constituency. I have decided to resign from my post for various reasons.”

“People gave a disastrous mandate to YCP in the recent general elections. Many leaders have already either resigned from the party or are staying away from its proceedings. It’s time for the YCP high command to retrospect its shortcomings,” he added.
Mopidevi revealed that he would join the TDP soon and hoped to secure a good position in the party. He opined that Chandrababu Naidu is an experienced Chief Minister and is steering the state back onto a progressive path.
