Thursday brought a major update in the Red Fort blast case with the arrest of more doctors. They are the prime accused in the attack that killed 15 people and injured 28. With these arrests, the total number of terrorists in custody has reached six.
NIA detained the four accused terrorists from Jammu & Kashmir after the J&K police traced their role in the case. As the NIA investigated further, it confirmed their involvement in the blast and moved ahead with the arrests.
The four arrested are Dr Muzambil Shakil Janai of Phulwama, Dr Adil Ahmed Rathore of Anantnag, Dr Shaeed Saeed of Lucknow and mufti Irfan Ahmed Vagge of Shopian. Their names were confirmed during the operation.
NIA took them into custody from Srinagar. The agency believes they played a key role in the blast and supported the terror module with logistics. All four had earlier been in the custody of the J&K police.
Dr Umar Nabi was the suicide bomber who died in the explosion. Dr Shahina and Dr Muzammil are already with the NIA as part of the ongoing investigation. The case now moves into a crucial phase.
