There will be no Telangana tableau for Republic day this year as the Ministry of Defence had rejected all the three proposals sent by the state. The newest state of the country did not get an invitation last year but the state government lobbied with the center and made sure there is a Telangana tableau at the event.

The state had sent three designs: Sammakka Sarakka Jatara, a tribal festival celebrated in Warangal, Perani Shivathandavam, a Nataraja dance form, and Bathukamma, a floral folk festival. But all of them were rejected saying that they are sub-standard.
TRS floor leader in Lok Sabha Jithender Reddy alleged that the center wants to eliminate Telangana at any cost and so the government had decided not to send any tableau in future. “We can’t go on begging year after year and don’t want to give them an opportunity to do so anymore,” said V Subhash, director of the Telangana Information & Public Relations department.
