NRIs to Be Allowed to Vote Very Soon

Union Cabinet has given its nod to extend the proxy voting facility to NRIs. This will allow NRIs to cast their vote in the elections using their representatives. Overseas Voters will also be allowed to vote using Postal Ballot.

The Central Government may have to amend the Representation of People Act to allowing NRIs vote from their overseas locations. As of now, such facility is available only to service personnel and those involved in election duty.

This, if comes into force, will be of big help for TDP in the state and BJP at the center. These voters can be decisive in the constituencies where there are close contests. And this will also mean the parties will also have to campaign in foreign countries.
