1 Month Of CM Thalapathy Vijay: Hit Or Flop?

CM Thalapathy Vijay first month

It has been barely a month since Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay took charge as the new chief minister of Tamil Nadu and there have been several revolutionary changes in administration already.

One of the main motives that is being carried by the Vijay government in Tamil Nadu is the need to end corruption and stop the bribe culture.

One of his earliest moves made by Vijay is to put an end to the pre-fixed tenders, opening all civic contracts to competitive bidding which eradicated insider trades. This move aims to eliminate rigged bids, and alleged commission-based awards, resulting in substantial savings for the exchequer.

Greater Chennai Contractors Association noted that similar works, previously awarded at 10% above estimates are now being taken up for as low as ₹16 lakh. This is an extremely welcome change.

Financial experts in Tamil Nadu are saying Vijay is moving from a 40% commission culture to zero bribes. The Vijay government is ensuring that municipal Corporation are also free from corruption at this point in time.

One of the main complaints against the previous government in Tamil Nadu was the extensive range of corruption and the kind of effects that they had on the common public. It appears that Vijay has been largely successful in restricting this till now in his one month period as the CM.

But at the same time, there are a few problems like women safety, and Electricity power supply, which need the attention of the chief minister. There has been a bit of education from the farmers regarding the farmer loan waiver as well.

There are a few things that need some introspection from the chief minister, but till now his working rate has been reasonably good for the first time CM. It will all come down to maintaining this momentum and level of integrity in the days to follow as well.
