Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with chief ministers of different states through video conference on the COVId-19 lockdown. Except for Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh, all other states have so far expressed willingness to lift the Lockdown.
Only nine Chief Ministers were allowed to speak to the Prime Minister even though all of them were present. These were chief ministers of Meghalaya, Mizoram, Puducherry, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana. Other chief ministers were asked to send their submissions in writing.
All the states have been hit by the severe financial crunch and that may have been playing behind their minds while asking for the Lockdown Relaxation. With the Central Government easing the restrictions in the second phase of the Lockdown, there are all chances that we would be seen a relaxation in the Lockdown after May 3rd.
That may happen in phases. However, the complete Lockdown may continue in containment zones. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of cases in the country are 27,892. So far, there are 872 fatalities in the country.
