As one person posted on Twitter – “Abdul Toh Yuhi Badnaam hai. Asli Maze Toh Roopchand Le Raha Hain” – it has come to light that one Roopchand from Bihar is the husband of not one or two, but 40 women.
In India, polygamy is a crime. But in distant pockets where circumstances matter more than rules, life can be filled with 40 wives. Now, aren’t we the most populous country? And looks like Roopchand is virile enough to maintain 40 wives at one go.
The polygamy case came to light when officials went to a red light area in Arval in Bihar. Bihar is going through census surveys based on caste, financial situation, family situation, etc. So, the officials are going from home to home to collect data.
When they came to this place, they found the ‘playboy’ of India, who had a harem of 40 wives. During data collection, 40 women and their children gave the name of their husbands and father as Roopchand, respectively. Goes without saying it was a ‘zor ka jhatka’ for the officers.
On further inquiry, it was found that Roopchand was a dancer in the area who sang and danced as a profession. Incidentally, he does not have a home in the area. But looks like the 40 women are enamored by this ‘macho’ man, and all of them feel he is their husband.
The officers later revealed there was no caste in that particular area.
