The BJP is finding itself in a spot of bother, and this scenario got elevated with the recent Delhi students protest. Now this is reflecting in the conventional Hindi belt politics as BJP is being delivered a brutal shock.
The discussion now is about the Bankipur Assembly constituency in Bihar, which is a traditional stronghold for the BJP for many years.
This Assembly contingency had been with the BJP for the last 30 years and the party’s previous candidate Nitin Nabin won the seat by a massive 52,000 votes margin in 2025. But this seat got vacated after Nithin submitted his resignation recently for higher ranks.
This is when political strategist, Prashant Kishor, who famously worked with YS Jagan in Andhra Pradesh elections in 2019 and a few other political parties, came to fray. He contested this by election on behalf of the Jahan Suraj party that he had launched before the 2025 Bihar election.
The interesting thing is that PK who had not contested in 2025, despite fielding his party candidates decided that Bankipur by election is the best arena to set foot. In accordance with this, he contested this Assembly seat in the by election.
Now, PK is leading this election by a margin of 9000 votes, and we are less than halfway through the counting process. By the time, the counting gets completed, PK is likely to win this seat by a margin of more than 20,000 votes. This will be one of the most significant victories for PK in his political career.
The fact that BJP is losing an urban Hindu dominated Assembly seat to a first time, contestant like PK has become major News India wide. This is already being seen as one of the most remarkable election mandates in recent times.
