US-headquartered telecommunication equipment maker, Qualcomm will set up a campus in Hyderabad at an investment of 3000 Crore. It will be its largest facility outside of the United States and the Phase-1 of the project will include a built-up space of 1.7 million sqft, housing about 10,000 employees.

Qualcomm already has a presence in India in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai. This new project will start rolling from the next year. With this new campus, Qualcomm joins the elite list of companies that have their largest presence globally outside of their headquarters in Hyderabad.
The manufacturing industry is the new focus area of the states in India after Information Technology which reigned for more than two decades. This new investment will be a shot in the arm for the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti ahead of the crucial elections in the first week of December.
