Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda has submitted a proposal to the Government of India for the “treatment and prevention” of COVID-19. The plan includes the usage of medicinal herbs along with allopathic medicine hydroxychloroquine, which is an anti-malarial drug.
Haridwar-based Patanjali Research Institute (PRI) that functions under the Patanjali Ayurveda claims that phytochemicals (chemicals produced by plants) in ashwagandha, giloy and tulsi have the potential to fight COVID-19. The proposal is right now with the Ministry of AYUSH.
The company also submitted a research paper for peer review to a medical journal, Virology. On the other side, scientists and researchers across the globe are toiling hard to prepare a cure and vaccine for this contagious virus.
At the time of writing this article, there are 1,098,762 cases across the globe and it has claimed 59,172 lives in various countries.
