Rayalaseema will be hosting Independence day celebrations this year for the first time after the state bifurcation. Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Stadium in Anantapur Police training college will be the venue for the celebrations which will be attended by Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

The state government had taken this decision as the Capital districts Krishna and Guntur will be busy in Krishna Pushkaralu this time and the government do not want to pressure the traffic with the high profile event. The ground which is spread in 54 acres will under go minor repairs to host the event.
Security Personnel will take over the stadium early next month and will take up necessary security measures. The government is also planning to appoint a committee to over see all the arrangements of this event.
