Reliance Industries has given back the land allotted for setting up an electronics manufacturing unit near Tirupati to the State Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). The company has withdrawn a proposal to set up a set-top box and dongles manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore.
Officials of the Tirupati APIIC zonal office confirmed that Reliance had given back the land. An official said the government now needs to return the amount deposited for the lands. The previous Chandrababu Naidu government had allotted 136 acres to Reliance. Jagan Government handed over 75 acres of land.
The rest of the land can not be given due to land acquisition issues. Finally, the company revealed that it is no longer interested in pursuing the project in Andhra Pradesh. The government’s efforts to persuade it to invest did not work. A manufacturing industry creates a huge number of jobs for the locals. This is a big opportunity lost for Andhra Pradesh.
“Jagan has given a Rajya Sabha seat to Nathwani, the right-hand man of Ambani in the name of bringing investments. Forget about new investments, the already promised investments are also going back. Thanks to this government,” TDP criticizes the Jagan Government.
