Popular sand sculpture artist Akunuru Balaji is known for craving fine-quality sand sculptures at Vizag and Suryalanka beaches. But this time around, he faced a rough time while sculpting new CM of Telangana, Revanth Reddy’s image at Suryalanka beach.
Balaji had been sculpting Revanth Reddy’s sand statue at the Suryapalam beach when the police halted him and asked him to get relevant permissions.
Balaji then went to the revenue department and Tahsildar office to get the relevant permission. But he was given no permission for the same. When he went to the police, they replied that he already had a case on him for sculpting an image of Chandrababu Naidu back in the day.
Balaji was reportedly threatened and sent away by the police as a result of which he had to end the sculpting of Revanth Reddy sand statue at the Suryalanka beach halfway. He seemed amused by the reaction from the police as they obstructed him while sculpting the sand art of neighbouring state CM.
