Salary Slip – The Big Decider In Defection Case

Salary slips in BRS defection case

There are differing views on Telangana Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar dismissing the disqualification petitions against five BRS MLAs. The BRS party has expressed strong displeasure over the decision. Party leaders point out that the MLAs attended Congress party events and believe the move avoided by elections.

A new angle has now emerged in the dismissal of the defection cases. Sources suggest the Speaker relied heavily on salary slips submitted by the MLAs. These documents reportedly played a key role in arriving at the final decision.

The MLAs argued they could not be termed defectors as Rs 5000 was being deducted from their salaries every month towards the BRS LP fund. Kadiyam Srihari, Gudem Mahipal Reddy, Prakash Goud and Kale Yadaiah cited this in their affidavits.

They questioned how they could belong to another party when regular deductions were made by the BRS. The MLAs also stated that the allegations were based only on newspaper clippings and media reports. They claimed there was no official record to prove defection.

According to the argument, where newspaper reports failed to establish defection, salary slips supported their stand. This factor is said to have helped the Speaker take a final call. The development has added a new dimension to the political debate in Telangana.
