High drama and severe political tension prevailed in the twin towns of Palasa and Kasibugga on Wednesday following the arrest of former YSRCP Minister Dr. Seediri Appalaraju.
Police arrived at the former minister’s residence in Kasibugga after naming him as an accused (A-2) in a case related to an ongoing road accident investigation.
As news of the impending arrest spread, a large number of YSRCP leaders, party cadres, and Appalaraju’s supporters gathered outside his house.
Chaos and Protests Outside Residence
When officers escorted Seediri Appalaraju out of his home, the situation turned chaotic. Surrounding the police party, supporters raised loud slogans against the government and attempted to block officers from moving forward.
In the commotion, supporters pushed through the police cordon, forcing officers to navigate through the crowd to safely place the former minister inside a police vehicle.
It took the police nearly an hour and a half to transport Appalaraju from his residence in the GMC Colony to the Kasibugga police station due to ongoing protest rallies and road blockades along the route.
Late-Night Interrogation and Tight Security
Following his arrival at the station, law enforcement deployed heavy security arrangements across the area to prevent further escalation.
Reports indicate that police also detained YSRCP leader Perada Tilak when he reached the station.
Despite the intense protests outside, police continued the questioning of Seediri Appalaraju inside the Kasibugga police station past 2 AM late into the night.
