CI, SI Suspended for Shielding Ex-Minister’s Son

Kasibugga CI and SI suspension case

The Andhra Pradesh government has officially suspended Kasibugga Circle Inspector (CI) Enni Ramakrishna and Sub-Inspector (SI) Sunil on charges of gross negligence and evidence tampering.

The action, ordered by Visakhapatnam Range IG Gopinath Jetti, follows a massive controversy surrounding a hit-and-run accident in Kasibugga town involving Aarav Verma, the son of former YSRCP Minister Seediri Appalaraju.

The fatal accident resulted in a person’s death, after which local police allegedly delayed collecting critical CCTV footage and crucial evidence for over 14 hours.

The investigation revealed a targeted cover-up attempt to shield the former minister’s son from the criminal case. The suspended officers allegedly manipulated the investigation by framing an unrelated individual named Siddhartha, who arrived at the station to surrender, as the primary accused driver.

They subsequently attempted to close the matter quickly by merely issuing a Section 41 notice. Following public outrage and top-level intervention, the government suspended both officers, and police department sources indicate that disciplinary actions are also looming for three police constables and another junior officer who assisted in the cover-up
