Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is still struggling to finalize the Cabinet. This is because he is still not able to take a decision on the Speaker Post. It is known that no MLA is interested in taking the Post which is carrying a bad Sentiment ‘Whosoever works a Speaker will lose the subsequent election’.
The caste of the Speaker will decide the composition of the Cabinet. The Chief Minister had decided to have only Eight Members in the cabinet for now and eight more in the next Expansion which will happen after the Parliament Elections. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy who worked as Agricultural Minister in the last cabinet is the frontrunner for the Speaker Post.
We are almost 40 days from the elections results and Telangana is operating without a cabinet since then. There is only one Minister in the Cabinet besides KCR. Lots of files are pending in all the departments as a result. With Telangana Assembly Session of 17th, the Cabinet Expansion has become imminent.
