Out of nowhere, The Assembly Seats Reorganization in both the Telugu States has come up. Union Home Ministry asked the Election Commission about the SC and ST reserved seats when the Assembly seats are increased. Since the census of 2011 is not fully ready, the reorganization may happen on the basis of 2001 census.

Article 170 of the Indian Constitution has to be amended for the Reorganization. The People’s Representation Act will also have to be amended and it may happen in the upcoming Winter Session of the Parliament. Since Telangana is already going for elections, the increase may be confined only to Andhra Pradesh now.
Telangana Seats will be increased by 2023. It has to be seen if the exercise will complete before Andhra Pradesh Elections. Once it is done, the seats in Andhra Pradesh will go up to 225 (175 seats now) and the seats in Telangana will go up to 153 (119 now). KCR will be disappointed on missing that out.
