The Supreme Court concluded the hearing on the case involving the attack on Chandrababu Naidu’s house and NTR Bhavan, the TDP central office at Mangalagiri in October 2021. The SC granted anticipatory bail to Jogi Ramesh, Vijayawada East coordinator of YSRCP, Devineni Avinash and 18 others in the matter.
Both Avinash and Ramesh were on interim protection since last year.
Speaking on behalf of TDP government, lawyer Siddharth Luthra said that the accused did not seek bail for the past three years. However, immediately after the government changed, they approached the Courts. The lawyer further argued that they attacked Chandrababu’s house which was under Z+ category security. He went on saying Devineni Avinash is the one who planned and executed the whole incident. Luthra finally said that Devineni Avinash was not cooperating in the investigation.
The counsel on Avinash’s side Kapil Sibal said the issue was restarted after the government changed in AP. He said the members received minor injuries contrary to what was stated in FIR. Sibal pointed out that Avinash was not seen in the CCTV footage provided as evidence. Siddharth Dave, counsel of Jogi Ramesh also presented his case.
The Apex Court made some key comments after listening to arguments. The Court said they did not take up investigation for three years and totally violated the criminal procedure code.
The accused approached Supreme Court questioning the HC ruling. We don’t see any reason to interfere in the case. Jogi Ramesh and Devineni Avinash must submit their passports and not leave the country. They must cooperate completely with the investigation, SC ruled.
